5 ways to celebrate Dad this Father’s Day
Father’s Day gives me a (formal) chance to thank my Dad, James, for always supporting me. After my Mom passed away, he became both Mom and Dad and over the past three decades he been my cheerleader, my confidante, my support system, my golf buddy, my partner in crime and my best friend.
While my relationship with my Dad is unique, your Dad deserves more than a tie, so here are a few ideas to celebrate your Dad this Father’s Day.
Take A Road Trip.
Recently, my Dad and I took an impromptu road trip. It was our first road trip in twenty-five years, and we had a blast. It was an opportunity for us to catch up, have a few laughs, get lost (a couple times) and make new memories. Not sure where to go? Ask your Dad if there is something he’s always wanted to do and make it happen.
Enjoy Some Sports
Sadly, the Red Sox are in Baltimore this weekend, but you can still take Dad to Fenway. Tickets to tour America’s Most Beloved Ballpark can be found here. If Dad is more of a football fan, visiting the The Hall at Patriots Place is a great alternative.
Get Active
I love playing golf with my Dad on Father’s Day and it’s not for everyone. If hiking is more your style, there are great trails in the Fells or at Great Brook State Park. If you love the water, Boating in Boston has options for kayaking all over the city.
Grab a Beer
Craft beer has officially arrived in Boston and 2019 is absolutely the year of the beer garden. Here is a great list to get you started.
Visit a Museum
There is no shortage of museums to enjoy in Boston but hidden in the Boston suburb of Hudson is the extraordinary American Heritage Museum. Opened in May 2019, the museum has one of the world’s largest collections of armored vehicles and tanks! More information can be found here.
Remember, at the end of the day – spending quality time with your Dad is what is important!
Happy Father’s Day
